Your family's information and choices
How BananaLearn handles information for enquiries, tutoring, accounts, payments and optional website measurement.
Revision: 17 October 2026 · Policy version 2026-10-171. Who provides the service and who this policy covers
BananaLearn is the trade name of a sole proprietorship operating from Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, India. This policy covers visitors, adult learners, parents/legal guardians and children using our tutoring, learning tools and support services, including families outside India.
For privacy requests and complaints, email support@bananalearn.com.
2. Adult enquiries and children's participation
An adult learner or a parent/legal guardian should submit an enquiry using their own name, email and phone. The enquiry form also asks about the learner’s grade, board, subject and learning goals. Do not include a child’s full name, health information, identification documents or other sensitive details in an initial enquiry.
For a child, the parent/legal guardian must arrange enrolment and manage the account. We may then need the child’s name, age or age band, country, learning needs, class schedule, attendance, answers, uploaded schoolwork and progress. Account passwords and confirmation links must not be shared publicly.
Accepting our booking terms is an adult self-declaration. It is not, on its own, verification of parental identity. Before collecting personal information directly from a US child under 13 where COPPA applies, we must provide the parent with direct notice and obtain verifiable parental consent using an appropriate method. Parents can contact support to arrange this and request access, correction or deletion. Do not send a child’s identification documents in an ordinary enquiry.
3. Information processed and why
- Adult name, email, telephone number and messages: to respond to enquiries, schedule lessons, send account confirmations and provide support.
- Account and learner information, class activity, academic responses and progress: to deliver tutoring, provide learning feedback and manage access.
- Payment references, selected packages, amounts, transaction status and receipts: to verify payments, allocate classes, handle refunds and maintain accounting records.
- Technical information such as IP address, browser/device details and security logs: to operate the website and protect accounts.
- Policy versions, declarations and server timestamps: to keep a record of acknowledgements. These records do not establish that a person’s age or parental relationship has been independently verified.
- Marketing-page visits and advertising attribution: only through optional measurement choices described below. This is separate from contacting you about a session you requested.
4. Recordings, transcripts and AI learning tools
Class recording or transcription requires a separate parent/legal guardian agreement for a child, or the adult learner’s agreement. Accepting the general terms does not grant recording permission. A parent may decline or withdraw future recording permission by contacting support; this does not itself cancel tutoring.
Our recording policy is to delete class recordings within 90 days of the class. We apply the same maximum period to associated raw transcripts and AI analysis derived from those recordings, unless a specific legal obligation or documented dispute requires limited retention. A learning progress summary may be kept separately for the tutoring service. A parent can request earlier deletion, subject to those limited retention needs.
When an AI feature is used, uploaded worksheet images, questions, messages or a consented transcript may be sent to an external AI provider such as Google Gemini to generate feedback. Remove names, school identifiers and unrelated personal information from uploads. AI feedback can be inaccurate and should be checked with a teacher. Agreement to recording does not authorise publicity or unrelated AI use.
5. Service providers and international processing
Providers involved in the service may include Hostinger for website hosting/email; Supabase for accounts, application data and storage; Google for meeting or AI services when those features are used; and WhatsApp or messaging providers for parent communications. Data may be processed outside your country, including India.
Only the information needed for a provider’s role should be shared with that provider or an assigned teacher. External providers also have their own privacy terms. Website resources such as fonts and software libraries can be loaded from external hosts, which receive technical request information. We do not promise that every provider’s infrastructure is located in India or the US.
Where a payment gateway is enabled, the checkout identifies the provider. Our current UPI proof-submission page records a transaction reference for verification. Do not give BananaLearn your full card number, CVV, banking password, UPI PIN or OTP.
6. Optional analytics, advertising and marketing messages
Use the Privacy choices control to allow or refuse optional analytics and advertising measurement independently. On eligible parent-facing pages, analytics and advertising measurement start by default for visitors located in India, the United States, Australia or New Zealand, unless you opt out. Other locations use permission-based settings. If your location cannot be determined, optional tracking remains off. Your IP address is checked against a country database on our own server; it is not sent to an external geolocation service. Essential sign-in and security storage remains available when you refuse optional uses. Choices are stored in your browser for up to 180 days; you can change them at any time.
If you allow optional analytics, Google Analytics may receive marketing-page activity and technical information. If you allow optional advertising measurement, Meta may receive marketing-page activity. We do not send parent contact details for advertising matching. Optional measurement is disabled on private account, payment and administrative pages. Interactive learning tools outside the public Learning Library require an age group before optional measurement starts. Under-13 visitors are not tracked for these optional purposes. Teen advertising measurement is available in India, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore subject to the regional privacy choices; it remains disabled elsewhere while jurisdiction-specific eligibility is unresolved; some younger teens also cannot enable optional analytics in consent-based regions. These settings do not stop access to lessons or games. Browser Global Privacy Control signals are treated as an advertising opt-out.
An enquiry authorises a response about that enquiry, not unrelated promotional messages. Permission for promotional messages, or for a child’s photograph, class clip, voice or testimonial to be used in marketing, must be obtained separately. We do not treat enrolment, payment or recording permission as publicity permission.
For a specific testimonial video or other material, parents can review a private request through Testimonial choices. Website/organic social use and paid advertisements are separate optional choices. Permission applies to the described material for 12 months from acceptance unless withdrawn sooner; continued use after that needs new permission. Withdrawing permission stops new use and requires removal from channels we control, although copies independently shared by others may remain. Electronic acceptance records your choices; it does not itself verify parental identity.
Learning Library usage counts
The public /learn/ pages do not load Google Analytics, Meta advertising tracking or an age/consent popup. We keep daily totals of page views, broad referral categories and actions such as worksheet downloads, practice completions, game opens and tutoring-link clicks. These are counts of requests and actions, not unique people, scores or individual journeys.
The counter does not store visitor IDs, IP addresses, device fingerprints, raw referrer URLs, search terms, query strings or per-visit event logs. It does not set tracking cookies. Reports are stored privately on our server for up to 90 days. Ordinary hosting/security logs are separate and may contain request information; they are not joined to these usage counts.
Use the control below to turn Learning Library usage counts off or on for this browser. Only that choice is stored in your browser, as a yes/no preference with no identifier. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track also stop these counts. No choice is required to read or practise. Signing in, submitting an enquiry or entering a game uses the separate privacy arrangements for that service.
Usage preferences require JavaScript. Browser privacy signals are still respected.
This changes only aggregate Learning Library counts in this browser. It does not change your account or other website privacy choices.
7. Retention, deletion and security
We retain account and learning information while needed to provide the service and resolve reasonable follow-up requests. Payment, tax, legal and acknowledgement records may need to be retained after classes end to meet applicable obligations or resolve a dispute. We restrict such retained information to those purposes. Recording-related material follows the 90-day policy above.
You may request closure of an account and deletion of information no longer needed. We may ask for proportionate information to verify that the request comes from the account holder or authorised parent. Deletion may not immediately remove data from restricted backup cycles or records that must legally be retained; we will explain any applicable limitation.
We use access restrictions and technical safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Report suspected unauthorised account access to support promptly.
8. Parent requests and complaints
Email support@bananalearn.com to ask what information we hold, request access or correction, withdraw optional permissions, ask for deletion, or raise a privacy complaint. Parents may ask us to stop further collection from their child; some features may then need to stop if they cannot operate without that information.
We aim to acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and resolve them within one month, subject to any shorter applicable legal deadline. Consumer complaints and refund requests remain subject to their own applicable rights and timelines.
Indian data-protection requirements have phased commencement dates, and additional protections may apply to overseas families. This policy does not claim that all provisions of the DPDP framework are already in force or that a checkbox alone satisfies every consent requirement.
9. Changes and related policies
We will update this policy when our information practices change and provide additional notice or seek renewed permission where required. A new policy does not retrospectively authorise an unrelated use of existing information.
Read our Terms and Conditions and Cancellation and Refund Policy for service and payment arrangements.
